Job Summary
One of our clients is currently seeking a Production Supervisor for their facility located just outside of Saint Joseph Missouri.
This Night Shift Production Supervisor will lead operations in the high-volume meat processing facility. This role is responsible for supervising production employees, ensuring product quality and food safety compliance, maximizing operational efficiency, and maintaining a safe work environment during overnight operations.
The ideal candidate will have experience leading teams in a USDA-regulated food manufacturing or meat processing environment and possess strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all night shift production activities to ensure daily production targets are achieved.
- Lead, develop, and motivate a team of production associates while promoting accountability and engagement.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, quality, GMP, HACCP, USDA, and company policies and procedures.
- Monitor production performance, labor utilization, yields, downtime, and waste reduction initiatives.
- Conduct shift start-up meetings to communicate production goals, safety expectations, and operational priorities.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Sanitation, and Operations teams to resolve issues and maintain efficient production flow.
- Investigate and address production, quality, safety, and employee concerns in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate production records, staffing reports, and performance metrics.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, safety, and cost reduction.
- Ensure proper staffing levels and support employee training and development efforts.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing, food processing, or meat processing environment.
- Experience managing teams in a fast-paced production setting.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations, GMPs, HACCP, and USDA requirements.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
- Ability to make sound decisions and solve problems under pressure.
- Proficiency with production reporting systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness and ability to work overnight, weekends, and holidays as required.
Preferred
- Experience in meat, poultry, or protein processing operations.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement experience.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a refrigerated production environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Comfortable working around processing equipment and production machinery.
